Spiritual Autobiography – Ages 59-64 (Part Three)

My class in Pennsylvania introduced me to elements that I would find in other Inner Focus classes. We started at seven in the morning with a one-hour practice developed by the Hindu teacher Bagwa Shri Rajneesh called Dynamic Meditation. After breakfast, we returned to our classroom.  AlixSandra led us in a guided meditation that usually [...]

Higher Self Meditation

Posted on May 27, 2008. Filed under: LGBT, Spirituality | Tags: , , , , |

If you are to have an inner-directed spiritual life, your connection with your Higher Self is critical.  It is also the area of this blog that is most problematic in that each person experiences his connection with Higher Self in a different way – even using different names for the Higher Self. As you work [...]

On Sunday, June 1, at 4:00 p.m., I’ll lead a two-hour workshop:
Sound and Spirit
How Drumming and Chanting Can Increase Our Connection with the Divine.
Drumming is often used in shamanic journying to bring about an altered state of consciousness, and chanting is frequently a part of meditation.  I’ve been using both for many years, and [...]

Spiritual Autobiography – Ages 59-64 (Part Two)

Last week I noted that my trip to Pennsylvania included preparations for a vision quest.  I first read about a vision quest in Richard Amory’s erotic novel, The Song of the Loon.  Later I read about actual vision quests in Black Elk Speaks.  Then I read, The Book of the Vision Quest, in which the [...]

A Late Afternoon Meditation

Posted on May 19, 2008. Filed under: LGBT, Spirituality | Tags: , , , , , |

This meditation uses several techniques presented in previous postings:  the work meditation, chanting, mudras, and Vipassana.  If you’re not yet familiar with these techniques, you can get more information through the links.
In privacy, use the work meditation to remove your clothes.  Next light two candles.  Set an electronic timer to give a signal in thirty-five [...]

During this period I developed healing skills through the Inner Focus School. I also worked with Native American spirituality.
My work with Inner Focus started with a series of fortuitous events – perhaps the guiding of Spirit. In 1995, an acquaintance gave me a cassette of an interview with Dr. Robert Jaffe in which he describes [...]

Thoughts on Meditation

Posted on May 12, 2008. Filed under: LGBT, Spirituality | Tags: , , , |

When doing a sitting meditation like Vipassana, you may find your body wants to move.  That’s okay. Just observe what the body is doing. Don’t try to sit still.  Just as your mind becomes more quiet when you observe your thoughts, so as you observe your body you’ll gradually become still.
You may experience strong emotions. [...]

Spiritual Autobiography – Ages 50-58 (Part Five)

When I retuned to Wildwood in 1993, it was for Cosmic Orgasm Awareness Week, led by Joe Kramer and Annie Sprinkle. I remember one experience of that week. I had just finished giving an erotic massage to a woman who would later become a teacher of this work. I was giving her my full attention, [...]

Vipassana

Posted on May 6, 2008. Filed under: LGBT, Sex, Spirituality | Tags: , , |

Vipassana is one of the oldest meditation techniques, having been used by Hindus and Buddhists for centuries.  It is sometimes called insight meditation.
In earlier postings I’ve noted that the basic technique of meditation is to bring your awareness to an object or area and let it rest there. When distracting thoughts come, you simply note [...]
